Travelling is one of the most fulfilling and valuable experiences a person can have. Being exposed to different cultures, challenges and creating lifelong memories can have a huge impact on character; especially in children whilst they develop their personalities. Having the chance to visit new places is an incredible opportunity to become more open minded and reflective on the way we live our lives, as well as how we treat others.
Respect and kindness are core values of Hot House – travelling in tours is one of the ways we build this into students as they must show these values to each other and the new people they meet across the world. Tours can have challenges and it’s vital our tribal attitude shines through with the team looking out for one another – I have seen this first-hand as a member of the Screaming Kicks Big Band in the #coast2coast tour of America in 2018.

Although tours have a focus on music, experiencing the culture of wherever we are is equally as important, this helps us to become rounded people, not just musicians. I have had so many memorable times travelling but some highlights are playing onstage at Snug Harbour, a jazz club in New Orleans as well as being there for Halloween (which was just a little bit crazy).
We can look forward to the fact that all our tours are still going ahead next year– these include Tokyo, New York and Disneyland Paris! We are super excited to embark on these journeys and I know that just like how the tour I went on changed my life, these too will change the lives of the students that go on them.
