Hello everyone, I hope you are sat reading this somewhere nice and warm, away from the chilly Autumn evening air.  I am currently sat writing this listening to some amazingly talented young people in the fantastic Hot House Big Band ensemble, and I cannot help but think what genuinely nice people they are. 

As a music educator I am always proclaiming the benefits music has on a child’s and young person’s education. Music can strengthen, support and (in my case) improve all areas of educational development including literacy and numeracy skills. What I talk less about, but is equally as important, are the many life lessons music can teach a young person.

The best lessons it can teach is the ability to be a kind, resilient, thoughtful and conscientious person, all qualities which the young people in Hot House possess. With these qualities in their life, there is no limits to what they can achieve. This is what Hot House aims to accomplish, to help these brilliant young people become the kindest versions of themselves and through their kindness achieve and leave the world in a better place.   

Not all of the learners who pass through Hot House are going to be a musical superstars, but in a world of endless possibilities, where these young people can be and achieve anything they set their mind to, one of the best things they can be is to Be Kind
