What does Hot House do?
Lessons:
We offer individual peripatetic music lessons both in school and as an extra-curricular activity.
Ensembles:
We currently offer ensembles for students from the age of 4 (pre-grade 1 through to post-grade 8). These perform a wide variety of music including: jazz, pop, soul, big band, latin, Gospel, and funk. These are known as: Hot Shots, Caliente, Saxophonix, Fusion, Junior Jazz Academy/Senior Jazz Academy, Jam and Big Band.
We also offer choirs for both adults and juniors, these are known as: Gospel Choir and Harmonix Kids Pop Choir
We have begun to offer ensembles for our adult community. The first of these are our Saxology ensembles and Community Choirs
Recording:
We have recently launched a Hot House record label that is exclusively reserved for Hot House students, alumni and staff. We have made a number of recordings featuring our students and are currently in the process of recording two new albums for some of our highly-valued staff.
Touring:
We believe that taking our students on tour is an integral part in the development of each of our students. Hot House tries to offer an appropriate touring experience to each of its students, believing that the life skills they learn whilst away from their “home” will serve them for years to come. Where possible, we aspire to tour to destinations preferred by our staff.
Where is Hot House?
Derby is often referred to as the “birthplace of innovation”, this refers to both our industrial and arts heritage (Joseph Wright). We like to believe that this is an appropriate title for our music school. We believe that a Hot House Music School serves its whole region and as such are not constrained to single specific site. A Hot House Music School will have relationships with dozens of local Junior, Secondary and Independent Schools within a region. Where are we going?
Over the next 3 years, Hot House are looking to roll-out their innovative and kind approach to music education across the U.K, North America and the Asian Peninsula.
