Learning a musical instrument has been shown to dramatically help with learning all other subjects at school. Indeed why is it, that at school, everyone must engage with numeracy and literacy and continually improve and reach a “minimum” standard, yet when children study the arts they are allowed to “not have a natural empathy” and by default are not expected to reach the same minimum standards as those required by numeracy and literacy???
All of the research that has been digested by the Hot House team clearly shows that learning a musical instrument actively sets of sparks in the brain, which is why we invest so much time in offering peripatetic lessons to every school in the midlands and at all of our Hot House Music School sites.
Over the past few years we have developed a few amazing relationships with local schools and currently have nearly 200 solo and shared lessons occurring weekly alongside our regular ensemble sessions.
At Hot House we believe that a lot of music skills are transferable, so before you start you should be encouraged to think that “you can change and you can learn more than one instrument”. Our teaching staff are able to offer lessons on the following instruments:
Piano, Bass, Drums, Guitar, Trumpet, Cornet, Trombone, ALL Saxophones, Clarinet, Flute, Recorder, Voice, Theory & Composition.
You can have a FREE TRIAL session on any of these instruments before booking your terms lessons, please follow the link from the main screen!
The pedagogy behind instrumental lessons and music education has evolved enormously over the past few decades.
Banish any memories or thoughts of dusty old rooms with a dark piano and dour teacher, at hot House it is all about fun and engagement. It helps to think of learning an instrument as like learning to drive a car. You learn how to play your instrument i.e. the basics but where you drive it i.e. what you play is up to you.
Of course the best bit about learning an instrument is joining a band to make music in a group. This is where music comes alive and this is what we hope all of our young pupils will progress on to.
